Oracles are two new site-specific sculptures by multi-media artist Judith Sturdevant exploring an aesthetic subset of historical links between fantasy, ancient cultures and new technologies. Tracing a lineage from the delirium of ancient mythology and the development of the female icon as both a Seer and Vessel, Oracles evokes themes of glamour, prophecy, hypnotic states and the presence of the mythical female figure within the charged environment of a fashion-house window while using modern methods and materials. The works are on display in the storefront of designer Adam Arnold's fashion showroom through the month June.
Judith Sturdevant received her BFA in painting from The Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon where she currently resides. She has shown in Portland at Gallery HOMELAND, Worksound, FalseFront, ZGF Architects, North View Gallery, and the Pacific Northwest College of Art. In Seattle at M. Rossetta Hunter Art Gallery, Gage Academy of Art, and Out of Sight a Pacific Northwest contemporary art survey in conjunction with the 2016 Seattle Art Fair.
