FUTURE HOPEFULLY, Jeff Fuchs, Josh Peters, and Jennifer Fernandez

  • Gallery 114 1100 Northwest Glisan Street Portland, OR, 97209 United States (map)

Hours: Thursday - Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm

Gallery 114 presents FUTURE HOPEFULLY a three-person exhibition featuring Portland
and Seattle artists embracing the present and looking forward to what lies ahead.

'Future Hopefully'
The first word may conjure worry or concern while the second reminds that there is always the potential for something quite different. This notion of potential is important. The possibility for play, joy, connection, and wholeness is always present. It may not always feel that way, particularly when we look at the news, but it’s there, nevertheless. Future Hopefully without punctuation, without pause or break. The two words together gesturing toward laughter between friends, an embrace after a long day, the wagging of a dog’s tail, the daily recommitment to finding brilliance in things big and small, today, and tomorrow.

During the month of February artists Jeff Fuchs, Josh Peters, and Jennifer Fernandez join to present vibrant and textured abstract paintings and sculptures at Gallery 114 in the Pearl District.

Jeffrey Fuchs is a modern Abstract painter working with layers of color and bold marks to tell the
stories of where he’s been and what he’s experienced. Jeff’s work is recognized for its vibrancy
and depth, with viewers making new discoveries each time they view the paintings. Fuchs is
represented by Gallery 114 (Portland), Ryan James Fine Art (Seattle), and Riversea Gallery
(Astoria).

Josh Peters is a contemporary abstract artist defined by his large-scale canvases and striking
juxtaposition of colors. Peters improvises as he paints, following and elaborating on forms and
color pairings as they emerge. A self-taught artist Peters has exhibited his work in New York
City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and abroad. He currently keeps a studio in Portland, Oregon.

Jennifer Fernandez is a Cuban-American multidisciplinary artist based in Seattle, Washington.
Using cold finishing techniques and acrylic mediums in her sculpture, her pieces give shape to
creatures in various states of relation. Through color, shape, and texture they demonstrate their
uniqueness and their connectedness. Her work has been shown throughout the Pacific
Northwest.
